Donald Trump Jr. voiced his displeasure on Twitter for an opinion article calling his father’s global effort to decriminalize homosexuality an “old racist tactic.”
“Insanity! As I have said repeatedly, if @realdonaldtrump came out in favor of Oxygen the left would be against it,” Trump Jr. tweeted on Wednesday. “Here, Out Magazine is against Trump’s Plan to Decriminalize Homosexuality globally saying it ‘Is an Old Racist Tactic’ Are You Kidding Me?”

The Out Magazine article states that Trump’s effort “looks like an atypically benevolent decision,” but ultimately says that it uses “queer” people as political pawns to “amass power and enact [Trump’s] own agenda.”
Matthew Rodriguez wrote the piece for Out Magazine, which is an outlet focusing on “American LGBT fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle.” The outlet claims to have the highest circulation of any LGBT-focused publication in the United States.
Earlier this week, in response to Iran hanging a man, Trump has announced a global initiative to try and convince countries to abandon their anti-gay laws. The initiative is being headed up by Richard Grenell, who is gay and serves as the U.S. ambassador to Germany.
