Workshops on sign language offered

Two free sign language workshops are being offered this month through the Family Support and Resource Center.

Teachers, parents and caregivers can learn basic sign language at two sessions from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and Nov. 12 at Faulkner Ridge Center in Columbia, according to a news release from Howard?s Office of Special Education.

To improve communication between parents and babies, a baby-toddler class will teach 100 signs.

The two sessions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 9 and 16. Free instructional DVDs will be distributed at each class.
