NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey is releasing his federal and state tax returns on Thursday.
Menendez will release five years’ worth of filings at his campaign office in New Brunswick.
The disclosure follows a similar release by his Republican opponent, state Sen. Joe Kyrillos (kih-RIHL’-lohs), last week.
Kyrillos, a real estate broker, and his wife, an insurance consultant, earned a combined $437,000 last year and paid $130,763 in taxes.
Tax returns have been an issue in the presidential campaign.
Republican Mitt Romney has released his 2010 tax return and pledged to release his 2011 return before the Nov. 6 election. Romney said he paid at least 13 percent in taxes during the past decade.
Kyrillos paid 37 percent in federal taxes last year.
