Some conservative pundits and politicians voiced outrage on social media after a woman was cited for violating Pennsylvania’s stay-at-home order when she went out for a drive last week.
Anita Shaffer, 19, was pulled over by police in York County. She said she did not think going out for a drive was prohibited under the state’s stay-at-home order.
Shaffer was cited and fined more than $200.
“Outrageous fascistic behavior by some of these incompetent governors, not the least of whom is the jackass governor of Pennsylvania,” said radio host Mark Levin.

Sen. Ted Cruz echoed Levin’s anger.
“This is absurd,” the Texas Republican said. “To Dem politicians (and it seems to be only Dems doing this, eg Wolf in PA, DeBlasio in NYC, Cooper in NC), protect public safety, but WE DON’T LIVE IN A POLICE STATE. Resist authoritarianism & don’t abuse power. Driving a car alone is not a public health threat.”

Democratic Gov. Tom Wolfe has extended Pennsylvania’s stay-at-home order until April 30 in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
