Air passengers have gotten used to taking out their laptops, carrying travel-size toiletries in plastic bags, and leaving those pocket knives at home before passing through airport security.
But apparently one person didn’t think those post-9/11 security rules applied to stun guns.
A person flying out of Washington Dulles International Airport to Orlando, Fla., on Monday was caught carrying a stun gun in a carry-on bag, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police responded and confiscated the gun, she said.
“As a reminder, weapons are prohibited from being brought onto aircraft in carry-on baggage,” she said.
However, some weapons are OK if they are in checked bags, she said, though that depends on local laws.
