Report: Trump considering Goldman Sachs president for another post

Goldman Sachs President Gary Cohn is reportedly being considered to head the Office of Management and Budget for President-elect Trump’s administration.

Cohn met with Trump in New York on Tuesday, during which the two men discussed several possible roles the Wall Street titan could hold in the next administration, sources close to the transition operation told Politico. Cohn did not take questions from reporters after his meeting with the president-elect.

Cohn, who also serves as chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs, is one of several Wall Street executives who are under consideration, or have been chosen to play a role in the Trump administration. Trump on Wednesday announced his appointment of former Goldman Sachs partner Steve Mnuchin to serve as his treasury secretary, and billionaire investor Wilbur Ross to lead the Commerce Department.

Naming Cohn to a top position in the next administration would likely amplify the criticism Trump has already faced for including Wall Street veterans in his transition process and giving Mnuchin a Cabinet-level position, despite promising to “drain the swamp.”

“I’m not going to let Wall Street get away with murder,” the president-elect told supporters at a winter rally in Ottumwa, Iowa. “Wall Street has caused tremendous problems for us.”

An aide to Cohn did return the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
