Fairfax County police believe one man could be responsible for four recent bank robberies.
The suspect, who may have first struck April 20 at a Cardinal Bank on Annandale Road, is described as a black man about 25 to 30 years old, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. Most recently, the suspect held up a Wachovia Bank on Old Keene Mill Road on June 19, brandishing a semi-automatic handgun. Police say the same man might also be responsible for robberies of the same bank on May 2 and May 6.
Lt. Richard Perez, a department spokesman, said Tuesday there are no other suspects, and would not speculate on whether the man was working alone.
“It is not uncommon to see a single individual responsible for multiple bank robberies,” Perez said.
Anyone with information on the robbery or the suspect is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-TIPS or the Fairfax County Police Department at 703-691-2131.
