Pet lovers searching for a drinking buddy during the coronavirus pandemic are in luck.
Busch Beer is offering two 24-pack cases of beer per month for three months to the first 500 people who adopt or foster a dog from Midwest Animal Rescue & Services. The beer company is also donating $25,000 to the organization as the nation faces closing animal shelters amid the outbreak.
“During these uncertain and lonelier times, people need an escape: cue the cute puppy memes and photos,” a spokesperson for Busch told People last week. “But as much as we need those cute puppy pics to help get us through social distancing, it’s actually them who need us.”
“Social distancing is better with a furry friend by your side and a cold beer in your hand,” the spokesperson added.
Those who want to claim the beer will need to go through the adoption or fostering process with Midwest Animal Rescue & Services and then send a direct message to Busch via Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. From there, the company will confirm the adoption and give participants a $100 prepaid debit card, which amounts to about three months’ worth of Busch beer. The special offer ends on May 9.

Despite the closing shelters, the demand for furry friends has increased as more than half of the country remains isolated under stay-at-home orders. At some facilities in New York, there has reportedly been a tenfold increase in pet adoption applications over the past few weeks.
Across the country, there have been more than 150,000 COVID-19 infections and at least 2,828 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
