Students who say they were choked by their first-grade teacher as punishment testified Tuesday in the instructor’s assault trial.
Two 7-year-old boys testified that Susan L. Burke grabbed them around the neck with both hands as a method of discipline when she was their teacher at Greencastle Elementary School.
But under cross examination, neither could provide many details about the alleged assault. On the witness stand and in previous interviews described in court, both boys gave conflicting answers for the number of times they were choked. They also said they couldn’t remember what brought on the attacks or when they occurred.
Burke’s trial began Monday in Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville.
The boys’ mothers also testified.
