Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries scolded former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski during his testimony in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday afternoon.
The former campaign manager was combative when he was taking questions from Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, and they returned the attitude.
“Before I begin, let me remind you, Mr. Lewandowski, that this is not a Republican primary campaign. You are not on the campaign trail yet. This is the House Judiciary Committee. Act like you know the difference,” Jeffries stated.
Lewandowski was testifying in front of the committee with Democrats hoping he would shed light on a specific instance laid out in the Mueller report that could be considered obstruction of justice. According to the special counsel, Trump told Lewandowski to tell then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions that he should limit the scope of Mueller’s investigation.
Jeffries was referencing the reports that Lewandowski is considering a run for Senate in his home state of New Hampshire.
“Corey will use [the hearing] as part of the campaign. He will be confrontational to the Democrats. He will be totally loyal to Trump. And he will be playing to the right wing of the party who need to unite behind him in a primary,” Thomas Rath, former attorney general of New Hampshire and adviser to several GOP presidential candidates, told Axios earlier this week.

During a break in his testimony, Lewandowski tweeted out a link to his website, which was “just launched to help a potential senate run.” The website shows a photo of him and Trump with the quote, “I think Corey would be fantastic,” attributed to the president.
