Montgomery County park users might not have to squat in the grass after all.
The Washington Examiner reported last week the county is eliminating more than 80 port-a-potties from Montgomery parks, citing budget constraints.
However, in a letter to the County Council, Department of Parks Director Mary Bradford writes, “Your staff and ours can find a way to solve this, I am sure. As you certainly know, there is no other money available to us at the moment, it’s that tight. This may make this a long, hot summer and I look forward to your recommendations and seeking alternatives.”
Multiple council members tell The Examiner they will find the money to resurrect the toilets.
It would cost around $155,000 to keep the more than 80 portable toilets in county parks.
