GBC urges voters to approve slots

The Greater Baltimore Committee has thrown its support behind the state’s slots proposal, the group of business and civic leaders announced Wednesday.

The GBC board of directors, including CEOs and top-level business executives, heard from both sides of the issue and decided the proposal “makes sense,” committee President and CEO Don Fry said in a statement.

“It is a reasonable way to provide needed additional revenues to our state, to stop the hemorrhaging of discretionary spending and revenue that is currently going into the coffers of neighboring states, and provide the citizens of Baltimore City with an opportunity to benefit from much-needed property tax relief.”
