Queen Elizabeth II to make first public appearance after hospitalization

Queen Elizabeth II is set to make her first public appearance Sunday after an extended absence following a night in the hospital.

The queen, 95, will attend a Remembrance Day service that honors members of the military who died in the line of duty, Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

“The Queen will attend the annual Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph on Sunday 14th November,” the statement reads.

Britain’s monarch spent a night in the hospital in October for “preliminary investigations” into an unspecified illness, according to Buckingham Palace.

“Mindful of her doctors’ recent advice, The Queen has decided not to attend the General Synod Service and Opening Session on Tuesday 16th November,” the statement reads.

Following medical advice, the queen did not attend the COP26 Climate Summit nor did she visit Northern Ireland, the palace reported.

Elizabeth is the oldest and longest-reigning monarch in the world and has “firm intention” to attend her country’s most significant service for remembering veterans, the statement reads.
