Jerry Falwell Jr: I told Trump he needs to start calling some in the GOP ‘fake Republicans’

The president of Liberty University says he told President Trump he needs to start calling the Republican lawmakers who sank the party’s efforts to overhaul Obamacare “fake Republicans.”

During an appearance on Fox News on Friday, Jerry Falwell Jr. says he has no confidence in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sens. John McCain, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski.

The trio of Republican senators sank the Senate’s Obamacare repeal bill in late July, leading Trump to this week issue an executive order rolling back some Obamacare rules.

“I spoke to the president last week and I told him he needs to coin a new term, ‘fake Republicans,’ because that’s what those people you just named are,” Falwell told Sean Hannity of the senators. “They’re not really Republicans. We don’t really have a majority in the Senate. I think that would be a good term for him to start using.”

Falwell has been a staunch supporter of Trump, sometimes campaigning with him during the presidential election.
