UPDATED: D.C. Lottery proposes ‘Smokin’ Hot Dice’ as Internet game

UPDATED, 2:26 p.m. May 17: “Smokin’ Hot Dice” is not the District’s first “online” game, a D.C. Lottery spokeswoman said. An online game differs from the Internet gambling games that the D.C. Council authorized in December. The Internet gambling games will be called “iGames.”

The first “online” game proposed by D.C. Lottery isn’t all that much different from an instant-win scratch-off. The rules for the first game, “Smokin’ Hot Dice,” were proposed in the latest publication of the D.C. Register. Residents have 30 days to weigh in. To play the game, you’ll have to visit a D.C. Lottery-approved agent who has an “online terminal.” The ticket costs $2 and you can win up to $1,000. The top of the ticket pictures two dice showing a number. Below that are 12 “rolls” with a dollar amount associated with each. If the total of one of the rolls matches the total showing on the dice at the top, you win the dollar amount shown beneath the roll. — Freeman Klopott
