What Robert Mueller did after submitting report to DOJ

How did special counsel Robert Mueller spend his Friday night after delivering his long-awaited report on the Russia investigation? Dining at a local eatery he often frequents, according to a report.

Mueller, arguably one of the most talked-about people in the nation’s capital, was seen sitting in his regular booth at Washington, D.C.’s, Salt & Pepper Restaurant, according to Politico.

During the nearly two years Mueller oversaw the investigation into Russian meddling, the former FBI director was often spotted at the restaurant on weekends with his wife, Politico reported.

Mueller is a fan of the scallops, while wife Ann gets a Caesar salad with salmon, a source told the outlet.

NBC News reporter Julia Ainsley also revealed Friday she had dinner at Mueller’s table, though she didn’t reveal the restaurant.

“I swear I’m not making this up: Eating dinner at the table Robert Mueller just left, per waiter at a local spot he is known to frequent,” she tweeted.

Mueller took over the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election in May 2017. The investigation, which led to the indictments of 34 people including several close to President Trump, officially ended Friday night when Mueller submitted to the Justice Department a report detailing his findings. Trump did not sit for an interview with the special counsel’s office, but he did submit written answers to questions.

A senior Justice Department official told reporters the special counsel will not be recommending any new indictments stemming from his investigation.

While it’s unknown when the details of the report will be released to the public, Attorney General William Barr told congressional leaders Friday he may be able to tell them of Mueller’s “principal conclusions as soon as this weekend.”

Trump has so far not commented on the conclusion of the special counsel’s investigation, which he has called a “witch hunt.” The president is spending the weekend at Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach, Fla., property, and went to his golf club there Saturday morning.
