President Trump’s son Eric Trump and CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta engaged in a Twitter spat Tuesday night following the campaign rally in Florida.
During the rally, where Trump was campaigning for gubernatorial candidate Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., the crowd began changing, “CNN Sucks,” while Acosta was filming live.

Eric responded on Twitter, calling the crowd’s chant the “truth” and tagged Acosta in the tweet. Trump retweeted his son’s tweet.

Acosta fired back on Twitter, saying that it wasn’t the truth, and scolding Eric for turning to Twitter to criticize both him and his employer.

Since campaigning for the 2016 presidential election, Trump has attacked mainstream media outlets, and in particular CNN, for being “fake news.”
He has specifically targeted and called out Acosta, who has been a vocal critic of Trump. Reports emerged last week that Trump spoke to staffers about his considering banning Acosta and CNN political analyst April Ryan from White House events.
Last week, the White House communications team told CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins that she no longer was permitted to attend an open-press Rose Garden event because of the way she asked Trump questions. Multiple reporters and activists have called this a violation of the First Amendment.
