Clinton hits Trump over refusal to release tax returns

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton went after Donald Trump Wednesday over his decision not to release his tax returns ahead of the November general election.

While speaking to supporters in Camden County, N.J., Wednesday afternoon, Clinton questioned why Trump doesn’t want to release them, saying “we’re going to find out.” She made the remarks after taking issue Trump’s overall tax plan, saying it was “written by a billionaire for billionaires.” Clinton also mentioned that Trump has been on the “defensive” over his plan in recent days.

“What about his taxes? So we’ll get around to that too,” Clinton told the crowd. “Because when you run for president, especially when you become the nominee, that is kind of expected. My husband and I have released 33 years of tax returns. We’ve got eight years on our website right now.”

“So you got to ask yourself, ‘why doesn’t he want to release them?'” Clinton asked. “Yeah, well we’re going to find out.”

Trump made the revelation in Tuesday interview with the Associated Press, telling them there’s “nothing to learn from them.” Earlier in the GOP primary, Trump received incoming from 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, who speculated that there could be a “bombshell” in the real estate mogul’s taxes.

Since February, Clinton has been under attack from Sen. Bernie Sanders over her refusal to release the transcripts of speeches she gave to Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street firms after she left the State Department in 2013.
