The Alexandria City Council will hold a public hearing Monday at 4 p.m. on the proposed fiscal 2012 budget, giving the public a chance to have its say three minutes at a time.
The hearing will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall.
Up for discussion is City Manager James Hartmann’s proposed budget, which includes funding for Alexandria City Public Schools, as well as an updated 10-year Capital Improvement Plan that includes funding for a Metro station at Potomac Yards.
Two proposals expected to draw extensive testimony include an increase in city employee contributions for retirement and health care and a 12.5 cent hike in the property tax rate for commercial real estate to fund road projects.
