Romney bucks third-party run

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Friday he will not run as a third-party candidate in the presidential election.

The 2012 GOP nominee told CNN host Wolf Blitzer that his opposition to Donald Trump was not enough to push him to run as an independent.

“I think you’re not gonna find a credible candidate running as a third party contender,” Romney said in the pre-taped interview. “I’m not doing that and have no intention of doing that.”

Romney said it would be “almost impossible” for a third-party candidate to receive the 270 electoral votes necessary to become president and would make it easier for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to win in November.
