D.C. announces free swine flu vaccine clinics

The D.C. Department of Health announced the locations of several school-based clinics where children, young adults and pregnant women can be vaccinated against the H1N1 virus at no cost. Children from six months up to 24-year-old young adults are eligible for the vaccination, which comes in the form of an injection or nasal spray. There will be one vaccine clinic in each of the city’s wards every week over the next month. The clinics will rotate between the district’s schools and be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For information, go online to flu.dc.gov. The Department of Health plans to launch a “Flu Shot Finder” on its Web site this week to allow residents to search for the nearest location where they can get the vaccine. Once the at-risk groups are vaccinated, clinics will be held for the general public.
