Chicago-based mall owner General Growth Properties, which owns seven shopping centers in Maryland, has assumed management and leasing responsibilities for Towson Commons.
Towson Commons, located at the corner of York Road and Pennsylvania in Towson, is a mixed-use project containing about 100,000 square feet of retail space, including an eight-screen movie theater, 220,000 square feet of office space and an 882-space parking garage.
GGP also owns and manages the nearby Towson Town Center, a 1 million-square-foot, four-level shopping center that recently completed a major expansion and renovation.
GGP, trying to restructure several billion dollars of maturing debt, also announced it has hired global law firm Sidley Austin, with 16 offices around the world including Chicago, as bankruptcy counsel. – Andrew Cannarsa
