House GOP needs to articulate its own jobs plan Re: “House GOP to collide with Obama over jobs,” Aug. 29
Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., has not created a blueprint for economic recovery. Instead of blaming the Obama administration for its over-regulating, jobs-killing agenda, here are three things I wish Mr. Cantor had said in his memo to his fellow House Republicans:
“First, the GOP’s mantra to ‘reduce government regulation and taxes’ will create ‘X’ million jobs. Second, the Republican Party’s goal to ‘repeal the 3 percent withholding rule’ will create another ‘Y’ million jobs. Third, the House majority party’s effort to ‘overturn the EPA and reign in the NLRB’ will create yet another ‘Z’ million jobs. Not only that, here is when the American people can expect to see a turnaround” (pick a date, any date, Mr. Cantor).
The time for generalities is over. Clearly, the House majority leader knows that inflamed rhetoric will not put anyone back to work. A real economic recovery requires two four-letter words front and center: JOBS PLAN — not the tired, GOP version of bull you-know-what.

Obama administration funds China’s immoral one-child policy
Re: “Biden’s stunning moral obtuseness on China’s genocides,” Aug. 28
Columnist Mona Charen demolished Vice President Biden’s failure to “condemn the immorality or brutality” of China’s hideous one-child policy, citing incidents of inhuman accounts of forced abortion of women bearing a second child. She also cites Biden’s service on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which heard about the atrocities visited on pregnant women resulting from China’s one-child policy.
She could have also included Biden’s solid voting record in support of the U.S. funding of this policy with over $40 million of our taxes annually.
President George W. Bush stopped funding the one-child policy, but President Obama resumed it, indicating his administration’s willingness to fund such immorality and brutality visited upon Chinese women. This surely ranks among mankind’s most evil deeds.

Americans have the right to criticize their leaders
Re: “Disrespectful anti-Obama articles weaken the nation,” From Readers, Aug. 25
Ken Harris stated his dissatisfaction with this fine newspaper and how he does not appreciate its criticism of President Obama. But he contradicts himself by spreading libel about Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Mr. Harris, are you only against criticism and negative opinions when they are directed at presidents? Is your own criticism of other elected officials warranted because they are not in the Oval Office?
What kind of nation would this be if there was no free speech that allowed us to express our opinions about our leaders? Out ability to voice our criticisms is what makes this country so great. After all, this is not communist China, and we do not believe in censorship of one’s views or beliefs. The fact that The Examiner published your diatribe is proof of that.
