A top Senate Republican ripped Speaker Paul Ryan for saying he’s worried President Trump will work with Democrats to figure out how to fix the country’s healthcare system if Republicans don’t fall in line.
In an interview with CBS News, Ryan said that was a real concern.
“What I worry about … is that if we don’t do this then he’ll just go work with Democrats to try and change Obamacare,” Ryan said.
“That’s hardly a conservative thing. This is a can-do president who’s a business guy, who wants to get things done, who wants to get things done with the Republican Congress. But, if this Republican Congress allows the perfect to be the enemy of the good, then I worry we’ll push the president into working with Democrats.”

This argument against working across the aisle angered Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn.
“We have come a long way in our country when the speaker of one party urges a president NOT to work with the other party to solve a problem,” Corker tweeted.

It’s another sign of discord in the Republican Party, especially between the House and Senate GOP.
In the past day, Senate Republicans have promoted their bipartisan work in the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election by comparing it to the controversy surrounding the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the same topic.
Other Republicans have actively been working against Ryan on healthcare reform in the last few weeks, helping tank the House GOP’s healthcare bill before it came up for a vote.
