Sanders helps staffer propose to girlfriend

Bernie Sanders may be the ultimate wingman.

Between campaign stops, the Democratic presidential candidate took a break to help his social media director Hector Sigala propose to his girlfriend via a short video, which Sigala posted on Twitter Sunday night.

“Hi, this is Sen. Bernie Sanders. When we began this campaign 12 months ago, nobody thought that we’d get as far as we have. We have made real progress …” Sanders says in the video clip, parodying his usual campaign speeches.

“Oh, wait a second,” Sanders continues, interrupting himself. “Hey Rio, Hector has a question for you. He’s a good guy. Why don’t you help him out?”

The Sanders staffer was obviously very thankful for Sanders’ help with his proposal, tweeting, “Thanks for the assist, Bernie #Engaged.” Later, the staffer tweeted, “Bernie was my last wingman.”

According to Twitter, Sigala’s fiance Kimberly Riofrio is also a big Sanders supporter. No word yet as to whether the Vermont senator will officiate their wedding.
