SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Some University of Utah students are calling for the school to abandon plans for a parking garage that would block their mountain view.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/10EhYvM) that geology students argued against the proposed building this week, saying the view is a key teaching tool. They say the planned garage would take away from their education.

They contend the geology classrooms were built to show off the Oquirrh Mountains, the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and the Great Salt Lake.
Officials say the proposed $6 million building would add 1,000 much-needed parking spots to the campus in 2014. They chose that location because it is convenient and wheelchair accessible.
The students have gathered hundreds of signatures in written and online petitions.
The garage is set to go up in 2014.
