British television broadcaster BBC will produce “an authoritative series that explores the facts and science” of climate change, fronted by teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, a frequent sparring partner of President Trump.
“The series will follow Greta’s international crusade, which takes her to the front line of climate change in some of the most extraordinary places on earth, as she explores what actions could be taken to limit climate change and the damage it causes,” the BBC said in a description for the series published by the Wrap on Monday. Thunberg will meet with scientists, political leaders, and “business heavyweights, exploring the scientific evidence with them and challenging them to change,” according to BBC Studios, whose science unit will oversee the program.
On Sunday, Thunberg credited naturalist David Attenborough, best known for his work with the BBC’s Natural History Unit, for inspiring her advocacy.
Trump has clashed with the 17-year-old climate activist and seemed to take a shot at Thunberg during his speech at the January World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, when he railed against “prophets of doom.” Earlier in the day, Thunberg told an audience at the elite gathering, “Unlike you, my generation will not give up without a fight.”
Trump called Thunberg out at a news conference the next day. “She beat me out on Time magazine,” Trump said, in reference to Time naming Thunberg their 2019 Person of the Year, a title Trump was awarded in 2016. “I would have loved to have seen her speak.”
When Thunberg’s win was announced last year, Trump took to Twitter to scold the young activist, writing, “So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!”

In response, Thunberg changed her Twitter bio to echo Trump’s remarks, describing herself as, “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”
