A flight arriving from Houston to Los Angeles was quarantined early Tuesday at Los Angeles International Airport after a non-credible bomb threat was received.
The plane operated by Compass Airlines landed safely at about 8:30 a.m. Pacific time after taking off from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport and was taken to a remote section south of the airport’s tarmac, according to reports.
A phoned-in bomb threat was made against AmericanEagle Flight 5931. That threat was later declared as “non-credible,” American Airlines spokeswoman Polly Tracey said.
It took roughly hour until the 76 passengers and four crew were escorted off without incident. Seven SWAT officers and a police dog were seen going through the plane during the investigation.
TSA first received the threat, LAX Police Officer Rob Pedregon said. No more details were released, other than that it was “non-credible.”
LAX has upped its security following the crash of EgyptAir Flight 804 last week. One construction worker who saw Tuesday’s incident said there have been more security drills since last week’s EgyptAir crash.
