One of the emails included in the latest release of Hillary Clinton’s State Department emails shows more tension between Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hillary Clinton.
Sidney Blumenthal sent Clinton an article published in the Daily Beast, “Peter Beinart: Obama Betrayed Ideals on Israel.”
Clinton forwarded the email to Jacob Sullivan, her deputy chief of staff, saying, “Pls read so we can discuss.”
Sullivan replied:
“Fascinating. Didn’t like this: When it became clear that the White House was serious about a settlement freeze,Netanyahu told advisers that Emanuel and Hillary Clinton—with whom he had tussled during his first prime ministershipin the 1990s—had turned Obama against him. ‘They want to throw me under the bus,’ he fumed.”
This isn’t the first criticism of Netanyahu or Israel in the Hillary emails, which makes Sullivan’s statement somewhat perplexing. Sullivan dislikes Netanyahu’s hostility towards Clinton, but as the Clinton emails have revealed, Clinton and her team appear to have an odd hostility toward Netanyahu.
