Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! The Jamaican bobsled team is headed back to the Olympics

Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it’s bobsled time!

The Jamaican Bobsled Team has qualified for this year’s Winter Olympics.

After an over two-decadelong absence, Jamaica will be represented by a four-man bobsled team, a two-man bobsled team, and a female monobob competitor at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, according to a report.

It is the first time the island nation has qualified for three bobsleigh events, the report noted.

Team Jamaica marked its qualification by quoting the 1993 Disney movie Cool Runnings.

“It will be fire on ice,” the team posted to Twitter.

The movie is inspired by Team Jamaica’s 1988 Olympic debut.

“Jamaica, we have a bobsled team heading to Beijing! It will be fire on ice as #TeamJamaica secured their spot at the 2022 Beijing #WinterOlympics,” the Team Jamaica post read.

“This will be the 1st time JAM has qualified in 3 Olympic bobsled events: four-man, two-man and women’s monobob.”

Jamaica was last represented by a four-man bobsled team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, according to the report.

Ashley Watson, one of the men expected to race in Beijing, confirmed he is headed to the Olympics in a Monday Facebook post.

“I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this! I’m going to be representing @jamaicaolympic at the @beijing2022 Winter Olympics!” he wrote.

“A childhood dream has come a reality. I gave up on this dream a few years back although I knew the elite athlete in me hasn’t died yet and had unfinished business. Blood, sweat and tears went into this and it has paid off! Best day of my sporting career! I was honoured to selected to compete in 13 out of the 16 races this season and gave it all I had.”
