President Trump is “crushed” that his longtime bodyguard Keith Schiller plans to leave his White House job, according to a new report.
Schiller plans on leaving his White House position as director of Oval Office operations to return to the private security business by the end of September or early October.
Trump is dispirited about the impending departure, a source told Bloomberg.
“He’s a confidant and friend,” said Stuart Jolly, a former Trump campaign staffer.
Bloomberg reported Tuesday that chief of staff John Kelly may be behind Schiller’s departure. Schiller has reportedly told friends he doesn’t like his job as much since Kelly entered the White House.
Schiller has also told friends that he’s leaving the public sector due to financial reasons, CNN reported Friday.
At the White House, Schiller makes $165,000 per year. He earned $294,000 per year as the head of security for the Trump Organization, the Trump campaign, and managing KS Global Group Security.
