The Seattle Police Department has hundreds of employees who have not yet complied with the state’s vaccine mandate.
Some 403 department employees have not presented proof of vaccination, including 111 who requested exemptions, according to a spokesperson from the department. The number constitutes a substantial portion of the Seattle Police Department’s force, which lists 1,433 sworn officers and 631 civilian employees.

The number of unvaccinated personnel could “create a disruption of unit assignments,” said interim police chief Adrian Diaz in a letter to the department.
“At the moment — we have to assume we have hundreds of unvaccinated individuals based on the information submitted,” Diaz said.
Department employees had until Tuesday to receive their second dose of the vaccine, according to the letter.
The Seattle Police Department Human Resources office sent a clarifying email correcting the deadline to Oct. 18.
“Although the deadline for submission of vaccine verification forms is October 18th, the department has no choice but to make operational contingency plans based on the information it currently has. Please help the department maintain its operational readiness and minimize disruption to employees by submitting vaccine verifications now,” according to the email.

The department reported 354 employees had not shown proof of vaccination Tuesday, dropping the number the next day to 292, and excluded the 111 employees who had requested exemption, Fox 10 reported.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the Seattle Police Department for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
