Fox supports CNN’s lawsuit to restore Jim Acosta’s White House press pass

Fox News said it supports CNN’s lawsuit against the White House to get back Jim Acosta’s press pass.

“FOX News supports CNN in its legal effort to regain its White House reporter’s press credential,” Fox said in a statement Wednesday. “We intend to file an amicus brief with the U.S. District Court.”

The network said that it does not support the increasingly antagonistic rhetoric from both President Trump and the press.

“Secret Service passes for working White House journalists should never be weaponized,” Fox said. “While we don’t condone the growing antagonistic tone by both the President and the press at recent media avails, we do support a free press, access and open exchanges for the American people.”

Acosta’s press pass was suspended last week after a heated back-and-forth with Trump and an interaction with a White House intern.

Trump make it clear that he was not going to answer Acosta’s question during a press conference following the midterm elections, and when an intern in charge of passing off the microphone went to retrieve it from Acosta, he blocked her from taking it back.

CNN has launched a lawsuit against the White House to reinvoke Acosta’s press credentials.

The White House said it can revoke a press pass if it thinks the individual is a threat to the president and his administration. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders posted a video of the incident, which some say was a version of the video doctored by conspiracy theorist site InfoWars that slowed down the interaction to make it more dramatic.

“We stand by our decision to revoke this individual’s hard pass,” Sanders said in a tweet. “We will not tolerate the inappropriate behavior clearly documented in this video.”
