Man arrested at gunpoint after SUV rams into gate at Minnesota governor’s residence

A 59-year-old man was arrested at gunpoint Sunday night after an SUV slammed into the front gate of the Minnesota governor’s residence.

Minnesota State Patrol arrested Clinton Fouquette, who is being held on suspicion of criminal damage to property and terroristic threats, according to the Star Tribune.

“The State Patrol ordered the suspect out of the vehicle at gunpoint, de-escalated the situation and arrested him without incident,” Department of Public Safety spokesman Bruce Gordon said.

The driver of the SUV “did not enter the grounds” after the vehicle came to a stop inside the gate, State Patrol spokesman Lt. Gordon Shank said, adding that no one was injured during the incident.

Gov. Mark Dayton was home at the time, but a spokeswoman said the governor was never in danger.

It’s the second time in recent years that a car has rammed into the front gate. In 2016, 42-year-old Wondu Seifu told law enforcement he wanted to speak with the governor, according to the Star Tribune.
