Former President Donald Trump’s new social network claims to have a very “family-friendly” approach to social media content posted on its website.
Trump Media and Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes unveiled how TRUTH Social, Trump’s new social network, will handle moderating content and its algorithmic approach to keeping things family friendly.
“We want to be very family friendly, we want this to be a very safe place, and we are focused on making sure any illegal content is not on the site,” Nunes told Fox Business on Monday.

Nunes said that TMTG is partnering with Hive, a startup that provides “next-generation intelligent automation solutions” and is used by organizations such as Walmart and Giphy. Hive CEO Kevin Guo told Fox Business that they had been working with TMTG for several months and that “moderation has always been core” for TRUTH Social.
The algorithm which Hive is reportedly providing TMTG will stop creators from posting sexually explicit content on the platform, Guo claims. It will also prevent any posts that include violence, bullying, hate speech, and spam from appearing on the site.
Guo also said that the algorithm would not regulate what political speech is placed on the website. “These are not things that are left or right or have any political baggage. When you think about these larger companies, what they have put in place around things like misinformation, what they deem that to be, for instances, that’s their prerogative.”
Nunes emphasized this, claiming that TRUTH Social will be “open for all ideas, all political debate from the left to right.”
Nunes and Guo did not discuss if it will use human content moderators, which are often necessary to determine if objectionable content needs regulation based on the context it was posted in.
Nunes has previously made noise regarding social media. In 2019, he sued Twitter to find out the identity of the people behind several accounts mocking him, including “Devin Nunes’ Cow.” He also served as the head of the House Intelligence Committee, where he attempted to interrogate several Big Tech CEOs about how they handled social media policy.

TRUTH Social has come under attack by trolls in the past. Within hours of the initial announcement of the platform, several hackers entered TRUTH Social. They created several fake profiles trolling Republican leaders, including Trump, Mike Pence, and others. The website was immediately shut down, and the hackers were locked out.
Other right-leaning/free-speech alternative social networks have also had problems with trolls. Jason Miller’s GETTR was overwhelmed with trolls in the first few months, with users posting Sonic the Hedgehog pornography on the website. The content was later restricted and blocked.
The network went up for preorder on Jan. 7, and the download page claims that it will be available on Feb. 22 in the App Store. However, people familiar with the company claim that it could be months before the website is fully operational, reported the Washington Post.
