Towson University looks to bolster graduate school enrollment

Hoping to tap into the market of college graduates who are unhappy with their first jobs, Towson University?s College of Graduate Studies and Research have launched a new campaign targeting those already in the workforce by sending the message that graduate school could be the answer for them.

Created by MGH, an advertising and public relations agency based in Owings Mills, the campaign consists of banner ads on CareerBuilder.com and radio spots running in the Baltimore market.

“There is a lot of motivation to go back to graduate school once you?ve been in the work force for a couple of years,” MGH Creative Director John Patterson said. “What happens is you graduate from college with a great education and you get your first job. At a lot of jobs you?re making Xeroxes and doing a lot of low-level things. That can be pretty disillusioning.”

The campaign is part of Towson?s overall effort to raise enrollment in both its undergraduate and graduate programs, said Don Akchin, the graduate school?s interim marketing director.

“We?re certainly optimistic that the campaign will help us achieve our goals,” Akchin said.
