President Trump slammed Adam Schiff, suggesting the California Democrat would be punished severely for his characterization of the president’s Ukraine transcript if he lived in Guatemala.
“It’s a total sham,” Trump said after a meeting with Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales. “When you have a guy like shifty Shiff go out and make up a statement that I made, he said, ‘This is what I said,’ but I never said it. He totally made it up. In Guatemala, they handle things much tougher than that.”
Schiff has been in Trump’s crosshairs since the House Democrat took liberties when recounting a summary of the July 25 call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump is expected to be impeached by the House on Wednesday and has been combative, releasing a scathing six-page letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday slamming her for what he considers a “partisan impeachment crusade.”
Sens. Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul have all come to the president’s defense in the past month.
Twitter exploded with allegations that Trump had threatened the life of Schiff with his remark on Guatemala.
Trump just said he wants to handle Schiff the way they would “in Guatemala” and I’m not sure what that means but I think a lot of people will take it as a reference to execution

Guatemala? Is he talking about mob-style retribution? How is anyone all right with this? Even MAGAts have family that are not Trump worshipers. Are they actually going to wait until people start “disappearing?”

Excellent point. Guatemala’s legal system is the shining example of justice by death squad to which America can only hope to aspire. Perhaps then a child rapist like Trump would be held accountable for his history of raping children. https://t.co/8sWSJiG16e

When Donald Trump was a young man, a military regime in Guatemala started forcibly disappearing+killing tens of thousands of rebels and civilians
The President openly idolizes brutal dictatorships, and makes no secret of his own violent authoritarianism
But the GOP does nothing https://t.co/oix79xdiuO
