Biden receiving intelligence briefings as presumptive Democratic nominee

Former Vice President Joe Biden has started receiving intelligence briefings as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Biden, 77, revealed the development during a campaign fundraiser on Friday night, according to a pool report.

“We know from before, and I guarantee you I know now because now, I get briefings again,” he said. “The Russians are still engaged in trying to delegitimize our electoral process. Fact.”

“China and others are engaged as well in activities that are designed for us to lose confidence in the outcome,” Biden added.

It’s unclear when Biden first started receiving intelligence briefings, but he said on June 30 that he hadn’t been getting them at that point.

“As this proceeds, I very well may” request a briefing, Biden told reporters at a news conference that day, according to Politico.

Biden currently has a commanding lead in the polls against President Trump, whose campaign just went through a significant shake-up.

The national conventions for both parties, which were delayed because of the coronavirus, are set to take place in August.
