President Trump endorsed Strange, who was viewed as part of the Republican “establishment” and had also received support from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
Trump appeared with Strange last Friday at a campaign rally, and while he spoke highly of Strange, he conceded that he “might have made a mistake” with his endorsement and said he would support either Republican candidate in the general election.
