Apatow: ‘Ghostbusters’ haters are probably Trump supporters

Judd Apatow theorized Wednesday that the same people who are voicing their concerns over the new “Ghostbusters” movie probably want to make America great again.

In an interview with Uproxx, Apatow was asked how he felt about the many negative reactions to the upcoming female-led “Ghostbusters” reboot. Some have suggested the poor reception of the first few trailers was due mostly to sexism, but Apatow likened those spewing vitriol to the folks who attend Donald Trump rallies.

“I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful ‘Ghostbusters’ will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy,” he said. “I would assume they are the exact same people.”

He did not elaborate on the connection to the presumptive GOP nominee, though he did say that the same “Ghostbusters”-hating, Trump-supporting people he discussed were “angry trolls.”

The movie director has a history of bashing Trump, like the time he compared the billionaire mogul to a contestant on “The Bachelor.”

“He’s kind of like the psycho girl on ‘The Bachelor’ that you don’t want to get kicked out too soon, because she might have sex with somebody in the ocean,” Apatow told an Austin, Texas, crowd in March. “But it’s time he doesn’t get the rose.”
