WATCH: Ron DeSantis pauses press conference after woman passes out near him

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis abruptly halted a press conference Wednesday after a woman passed out in the crowd near him.

The reason for the woman fainting was not immediately clear, but after several bystanders helped her up, the governor appeared to conclude she would be fine and carried on with his press conference.

“She’s gonna be OK,” DeSantis quipped before the press conference resumed.

“And this just goes to show you the first person who came to her aid was our great governor,” an official at the podium said once the presser resumed.

DeSantis held the presser in Fort Myers, Florida, to brief reporters on the work being done to clean up the damage left by Hurricane Ian that barreled through the Sunshine State last month.

The governor held the conference alongside other officials who briefly fielded questions from reporters about the recovery efforts.

On Monday, DeSantis was in Fort Pierce, Florida, to square off against Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Charlie Crist in the lone debate between the pair. The incumbent governor, who has been a rising star in conservative circles, holds a commanding 11.2-point lead over his Democratic foe in the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate.

Crist previously served as governor from 2007 to 2011 and had been a Republican before swapping parties. Early voting is already underway in multiple counties throughout the state. Voters head to the polls for in-person voting on Nov. 8.
