Fox Business has parted ways with one of its prime-time anchors, Trish Regan, the company announced Friday.
Regan, who had been at the network since 2015, was taken off the air earlier this month so the network could provide additional coverage of the coronavirus. The move also came after she faced backlash for a monologue in which she claimed that Democrats and certain members of the media were using the coronavirus as a mechanism to remove President Trump from office.
“Fox Business has parted ways with Trish Regan — we thank her for her contributions to the network over the years and wish her continued success in her future endeavors,” the network said in a statement. “We will continue our reduced live primetime schedule for the foreseeable future in an effort to allocate staff resources to continuous breaking news coverage on the Coronavirus crisis.”
Regan, who previously worked at Bloomberg News from 2012 to 2015, said in a statement, “I have enjoyed my time at Fox and now intend to focus on my family during these troubled times. I am grateful to my incredible team at Fox Business and for the many opportunities the network has provided me. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my career.”
The network, in addition to suspending Regan’s show, also put Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery’s show on pause. It remains unclear who will fill the void created with her departure once it restarts regularly scheduled programming.
