CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Gov. Matt Mead is touring Chinese facilities that use advanced technologies to produce different forms of fuel and other products from coal.
Mead and other officials from Wyoming have been in China this week for the 2012 International Advanced Coal Technologies Conference. Officials from China and representatives from Australia’s national science agency also have been attending
Mead’s office released a prepared statement quoting the governor saying he and other officials have toured a plant being built in northern China that will produce methanol from coal. He says Wyoming needs to explore Chinese efforts to coal into liquid fuels and chemical feed-stocks.
Secretary of State Max Maxfield is serving as acting governor until Mead’s scheduled June 11 return.
