Award-winning actress Cloris Leachman dies at 94

Award-winning actress Cloris Leachman died Wednesday at the age of 94.

Leachman, best known for playing neighbor Phyllis on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, died of natural causes at her home in Encinitas, California, according to NBC News, citing her spokesperson.

Leachman starred in a number of other television roles, including appearances on The Facts of Life, Malcolm in the Middle, and Raising Hope.

During the course of her television career, Leachman won eight Emmy Awards, tied for the most all time with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Leachman also won an Academy Award for her role as a gym teacher’s neglected wife in the 1971 film, The Last Picture Show. Other movies Leachman starred in include Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, History of the World, Part I, and the 1993 film version of The Beverly Hillbillies.
