2020 hopeful Bullock struggles to name accomplishment he’s most proud of

New Democratic presidential candidate Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, 53, had to take his time to think of an accomplishment he’s most proud of while in office.

“What have you been proudest to achieve as governor?” a woman asked at his campaign launch Tuesday in Helena, Mont.

After a 16-second pause, Bullock said, “Hopefully, my kids still know my most important job is being their dad.”

“You know, as governor, it’s not like attorney general when you know you won or lost a case,” he said. “Sometimes, you won’t have impacts for years. But I know that 100,000 people have healthcare because of the work we have done. I know that we’ve done more, to the earlier question, to try to keep the outside influence of dollars out of our elections so that your voice matters as long as you vote.”

Bullock said he was pleased with the amount of money the state has invested in education and the protection of public lands.

Bullock announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential election on Tuesday.

“I believe in an America where every child has a fair shot to do better than their parents. But we all know that kind of opportunity no longer exists for most people; for far too many, it never has,” he said in his campaign launch video. “We need to defeat Donald Trump in 2020 and defeat the corrupt system that lets campaign money drown out the people’s voice, so we can finally make good on the promise of a fair shot for everyone.”
