Children of Montgomery County Public Schools: Your superintendent knows how much you kids like that Book of Face that you’re always signing into.
And in fact, Jerry Weast has some ideas for the social networking site.
“I’ve talked to Google, and our kids are all on Facebook — they’ve got profiles,” Weast said at an Education Week panel on graduation rates. “There should be an icon with some jobs you ought to think about, or some futures you need to think about.”
Can you picture that button below your Top Friends?
“Not any propaganda, not any advertising, but the idea that you’re worth something, that your life if worth something, and you can attach it to something,” Weast explained.
Although Weast is retiring this month, he’s kept mum about his future plans. When speaking on the panel, he openly asked foundations in the audience if they were “working on anything” to that effect, saying it’s “one of the things we’re working on.”
Education Week named Montgomery’s public school system tops for graduation rates among large school districts for the third year running.
