Ticer endorses Garvey for Va. state Senate

Retiring Virginia state Sen. Patsy Ticer, D-Alexandria, has thrown her support behind Arlington school board chairwoman Libby Garvey as the candidate to replace her.

“I’ve worked with Libby for years,” Ticer said in a statement released by Garvey’s campaign. “She is a fast study and is committed to the issues important to me.”

Ticer announced her retirement on the Senate floor during the 2011 General Assembly session; Del. Adam Ebbin, D-Alexandria, and Alexandria City Councilman Rob Krupicka are also running for the seat. Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille has thrown his support behind Krupicka, although Ebbin came out ahead in a recent Mt. Vernon Democrats straw poll.
