John Podesta: ‘Roger Stone’s on his way to prison’

Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chairman John Podesta believes Roger Stone will be sent to prison, and thinks the longtime Trump confidant won’t feel remorse for his actions until “the cell door clanks.”

“I think Roger Stone’s on his way to prison, quite frankly,” Podesta told ABC News’ “The Investigation” podcast.

Stone has been charged in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation with lying about his communications with WikiLeaks, the organization that published Podesta’s hacked emails during the 2016 presidential campaign.

In an Aug. 21, 2016, tweet, Stone wrote, “Trust me, it will soon [be] the Podesta’s time in the barrel. #CrookedHillary.” The tweet was published weeks before WikiLeaks released Podesta’s emails, leading some to suspect that Stone knew about the forthcoming release.

Mueller said Stone sought the hacked emails from WikiLeaks in coordination with top members of President Trump’s campaign. The indictment does not reveal who those officials are. Stone has pleaded not guilty, maintaining that he did not have advance knowledge that WikiLeaks would release the documents.

“I think at the end of the day, he can strut and he can do his Nixon impressions,” Podesta said. “But, maybe when the cell door clanks, he’ll feel a little bit more remorse.”
