Reality Leigh Winner, the 25-year-old government contractor accused of leaking classified information to the press, appeared in federal court on Tuesday and received a trial date..
Judge Brian Epps scheduled a trial on Oct. 23 for Winner, who is charged with leaking classified documents to the news outlet The Intercept. The information she allegedly leaked detailed Russian attempts to hack into the U.S. voting system last year.
Winner, from Augusta, Ga., has pleaded not guilty to the charge of “willful retention and transmission of national defense information,” NBC News reported.
Earlier this month Epps denied bail for Winner.
President Trump and his Republican allies in Washington have made pursuing leakers one of their top priorities.
