Republicans demand details on how James Comey pal was linked to the FBI

Two top Republicans are demanding information from the Department of Justice about Daniel Richman, the Columbia Law School professor and friend of former FBI Director James Comey who leaked Comey’s unflattering memos about President Trump to the press.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., and Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., ordered the Department of Justice to reveal the terms of Richman’s service with the FBI, where he worked at one time as a “special government employee,” according to the bureau.

Gowdy and Goodlatte want the details of Richman’s service, including “any records that captured Richman’s entry and exit to FBI space,” his security clearance level, emails, and other communications to FBI employees and time and attendance records.

Richman is now serving as Comey’s lawyer.

Comey is accused of leaking classified information in the memos to Richman, but Comey denies that the information was classified at the time. Comey gave the memos to Richman and asked him to leak it to the media after Comey was fired in May 2017.

The Department of Justice is investigating whether the information was classified when Comey gave it to Richman.
